The RPRY PTA warmly welcomes everyone back to school! The PTA is proud to provide many services and amenities to the families, students, and staff of RPRY. Our contributions include the administration of the dairy lunch program and parent-teacher conference system; the purchase of necessary items for the school, including a recent update of the school library; an annual donation to the scholarship campaign; cultural arts programming to extend and enrich student learning; and the organization of the annual health fair.
One of the new initiatives undertaken by the PTA last year was the creation of a Teacher Professional Development Fund. As such, we've been able to provide funding for a number of teachers to participate in activities to support their professional growth. Rabbi Daniel Lasar, Middle School Gemara teacher, participated in a 4-day course entitled, "Creating a Love for Gemara" this past summer and Mrs. Sari Shalmon & Mrs. Marsha Wasserman, Middle School Science teachers, will be attending the 2010 NJ Science Convention this month; in addition, in a few weeks, Mrs. Stacey Rockman, Morah Helene Lockspeiser, and Morah Lisa Klinger, Early Childhood staff from both the Edison and East Brunswick campuses, will use PTA funding to attend a one-day seminar on Sensory Dysfunction in children to enhance their understanding of children's sensory-motor processing and development.
The RPRY PTA is thrilled to be able to provide these opportunities and services but we can't do it without your help. The PTA membership drive is currently underway and your donation of $25 goes to fund these and many more worthwhile initiatives and events. Last year, Morah Judy Schwarzberg's Nursery class won the PTA membership drive with the highest level of parent participation and received a generous prize package tailored to meet their needs. Your child's class may be the big winner this year! The classes who are currently in the lead are:
1st place (tie): 6th Grade Boys--27%
7th Grade Boys--27%
2nd place: 4th Grade--Mrs. Schechter (AM)--24%
3rd place: Primer--Mrs. Grunwald/Mrs. Dessau--21%
Thank you to all of those who have already participated in the membership drive. If you have not yet submitted your membership form and donation, please take a moment to click on the link below where you will find the 2010-2011 PTA membership packet; please fill out the membership form and return it to school along with a check for $25 made payable to the RPRY PTA by Friday, October 15th so that your child's class gets one step closer to the big prize!
