The RPRY PTA is pleased to announce a new program that will be rolled out just in time for the 2009-2010 school year...
RPRY Parent Partners!
What is RPRY Parent Partners?
RPRY Parent Partners is a buddy system program linking veteran RPRY families--those whose children have attended RPRY for at least 2 years--with our new RPRY families to help guide them or answer any school or community related questions they may have.
What is the goal of RPRY Parent Partners?
When a new family enters a school, they can often feel overwhelmed by the new environment, policies, and practices. We would like to help parents feel more connected to one another by linking families up to make the transition to a new school easy for both parents and children. One of the goals at RPRY is the continued growth of the student body and the best way to do this is to provide a quality program that makes it easy for families to want to stay year after year. We feel that by linking up veteran families who are happy to share their positive RPRY experiences with new families, this goal may be easier to achieve. But the bottom line is, the goal of the RPRY Parent Partners program is to help new families feel welcomed into the RPRY family. Plain and simple.
What are the responsibilities of an RPRY Parent Partner?
Registration materials for the 2009-2010 school year are on their way! As new families join RPRY, a letter will be sent out to both the new family and the veteran family with all RPRY Parent Partner contact information. We expect that the "old pros" will be the ones to make first contact with the new buddies to make them feel welcome. We'd like to suggest a possible playdate between the children before the school year begins which we hope will ease the transition into a new school for the new child. The only responsibility an RPRY Parent Partner will have is to reach out to a new family and help to make them feel welcome as a part of the RPRY family.
How can I get involved?
While RPRY enrolls the majority of new students in the Early Childhood, there are new families that join at other grade levels as well. As a result, we are looking for parents at all grade levels to volunteer for the RPRY Parent Partners program. The goal will be to match new families with veteran families who have children in the same grades. If you have had a child enrolled at RPRY for at least 2 years and are willing to reach out to a new family, welcome aboard!
