2010 RPRY Annual Student Art Show

Email Print PDF

Wed. night, Jan. 14th, the RPRY gym was turned into an amazing art gallery of all of our children's art work.  The Annual Student Art Exhibit and PTA Crafts Night was a huge success this year!  We had a large turn-out.  Thank you to all the parents and grandparents for supporting the art program and coming to our art exhibit!  In addition to viewing the creative and beautiful art work all around the gym, kids gathered around three long tables to make and take home the crafts items that the PTA set up.  Thank you to Sandy Dube and Ida Scheiner for putting that together and also for taking care of the refreshments.  The slide show of photos taken by Mrs. Phillips during the year, that was set up in the corner of the gym, was viewed by lots of kids (and grown-ups!) who had fun spotting themselves and their friends making or holding up their art projects in art class.  Thank you to Mrs. Kaufman for taking the time to put the slide show together and set it up for the exhibit.  Mrs. Phillips wants to also thank three parent volunteers:  Elina Zismanova for mounting a class of art work to hang in the exhibit, and Michelle Schanzer and Leslie Ostrin for their helping Mrs. Phillips to hang up the large sheets of mounted art work in the gym that afternoon.  And a big thank you to our custodians, Victor, Miguel, and Herman, who are always ready and willing to help whenever needed...and did!

2nd Grade - Turtle Painting & Collage

Email Print PDF

These photos were taken of the second graders during ART CLASS, with their Turtle Painting/Collage Projects.  What a GREAT job they did!!
Week 1: They made a symmetrical collage of their turtle.  Week 2: They traced their turtles and painted a patterned border design.  Week 3:  They glued down their turtles and added cray-pas details to their designs.

3rd Grade Stamping Project

Third Graders had a lot of fun creating these Radial Balance Symmetrical designs.  This was a stamping project.  Mrs. Phillips brought in her collection of self-made stampers and the children discovered many ways of combining the shapes into neat symmetrical designs, working from the center outward.  Week 1:  Stamping with paints.  Week 2:  Embellishing with cray-pas.
